Melchizedek 'Mel' Doogood-head of the Doogood family, a one-time lawyer and shyster until his conversion to religion. Mel is optimistic, paternalistic, ambitious, patronizing and orderly. She enjoys decorating rooms with flowers, allergic to cats, eating non-kosher food and remains passive to a fault. Mordecai-the eldest son, very nerdy but sex-crazed, voyeuristic and a Peeping Tom, computer wise and mechanical, irritable, unfunny, loves drinking Kool-aid and can be nitpicky. Mash-second son, laid-back and clever but lazy and uninterested, rude but would work to have himself some fun with comics, fish-stick peanut-butter sandwiches, chips and video games. Misti-eldest daughter, a real beauty but slightly bubble-headed and materialistic. She collects pennies, feigns piety, has a wart on her butt and has a phobia of black cats. Mered-the athletic one of the family; strong, muscular but chaste, because he is secretly gay. He can be helpful and meek but prone to cowardice, greed and has constipation problems. Myra-the depressing one; gloomy, pessimistic, apathetic and deadpan, but enjoys jump ropes, gardening and has a problem with pyromania. Magdalene-the vain one; obsessed with appearance and admiration. She is autoerotic, easily offended, uninterested in boys and loves eating sugar food. Meah-the bookworm; bookish, pedantic, foolish, sings beautifully but is tone-deaf. Milcah-the talented one; an artist, actress and swimmer but a socially awkward, preachy crybaby. Mara-the gluttonous one; she gorges and swallows, delusional, boastful and pushy. Moab-the whiny son; fussy, picky, self-absorbed and has a phobia of snowmen. Moriah-the troublesome one; unruly, spoiled, whiny and has a phobia of worms. Micah-the 'angelic' son; sweet, meek and dutiful, but mean-spirited and pretentious.
